Posts: 13634I agree. I think he saw Asians because there are tons of Asian massage parlors. There are no storefront Caucasian parlors. And, the fact that he shot white and Hispanic people shows it was just a matter of convenience for him. Definitely not a hate crime by definition.

Posts: 107If he hated asians so much why did he frequent the places so much. Why didn't he see caucasians. Your being to quick to judge. It ain't always about race.

Posts: 2341The spa attack was racist, it was also misogynistic, xenophobic, and likely rooted in his hatred of sex workers. Think about it again: The shooter wanted to "eliminate" the people who worked at specific businesses in an industry in which workers are predominantly Asian. His victims were predominantly Asian women. And yet it was not a "racially motivated" act? Please!

IMHO. The media, the Legal Charging Authority and the many Asian and Feminist Groups are twisting this tragedy to suit their narratives.

Posts: 2410I hope they can make a case based on gender because I think he definitely targeted women.

Posts: 317Exactly! Just because somebody goes into a place and shoots people of some ethnicity because they are that doesn't mean it was a hate crime which is what I was trying to say in the fight thread but people weren't agreeing with me. Me, you, Night, Aaron, Sgt. Soros, Sky, etc. Could've been in any of those spas that day when that guy did what he did. If you work at a very disliked place like Game stop some fool could come in with a gun and shoot a few black guys who are in the store because he found out he was only going to be getting 2 dollars for a video game he was trading in. I agree with the death penalty against this guy but to say it was a hate crime does not fit the bill because there is not enough for that and also to add one of us who was on here was one of the victims along with a woman who was getting a massage.

Did anyone else see the irony in the Fani Willis statement: "Lady Justice in this community is blind," Willis told a news conference after her court filing. "It does not matter your ethnicity, it does not matter the side of the tracks you come from, it does not matter your wealth. " Then in the next breath she went on to announce that she would seek the death penalty pursuant to the hate crime statute based on the gender and race of the victims. Did she really even listen to her statement before she made it? Yeah, I know the point she was trying to make, but still...
I don't have a problem with pursuing the death sentence, as what the guy did is heinous. I don't think the guy specifically targeted Asian women, but rather the businesses he frequented, and the people there were largely Asian women. If some guy had a grudge against 7-11's or Dairy Queens, chances are he'd take out Indian men, but that wouldn't make it a hate crime against Indian men.

The guy probably will not be able to work a regular cop beat again, but that is not the same as being fired. As I said before, his life is now ruined. Wouldn't surprise me if he brings a civil suit against Mayor dumb-Bottoms and city of Atlanta, and sues them for years of lost pay and pension as a result of his inability to work as a cop again.

If they want to burn this guy at the stake, they'll find a way, if they want to fire / arrest / whatever they'll find a way, it's all about what those in power decide to do.

Don't believe he'll be fired. How can you be fired when your training officer is on record stating that you acted as per your training? Definitely do agree with you regarding the murder charge- that was insane to begin with.

Posts: 475That is not a fireable offense. Now, maybe they can get him to agree to retire, with retirement pay, but that's not the same as being fired.

Officer Darren Wilson, from the mike Brown incident / Ferguson mo. Was investigated by every agency you could think of. His actions were deemed lawful reasonable and well with in policy yet he was forced to quit and go in hiding. Both him and the guy from Apd acted lawfully and according to their training. I am thrilled both officers went home safely. I am saddened he will no longer be a cop. Getting hired and trained to be a officer is not easy. I read recently 92% of people who applied for APD were screened out because they failed to return background check or failed to compete it. Not screened out for content, but because they were unable to fill out basic form. Between, drug history, credit history, driving history and tattoo policies the pool of candidates were limited. Add now to the environment everyone with a cellphone is a investigative reporter and everything you say or do can be twisted, who would want the job? 12 hour shifts, rotating days / nights. Mandatory overtime. Hostile customer base? No support of city. The Mayor making ridiculous statements not based in facts. No thank you.

Posts: 736Because it will be too dangerous for him to be on the force. I'm pretty sure he's going to beat the murder charge.
