Good read. If you think this new law is to actually stop human trafficking, you're nuts. This is just the moral police making their mark. I also found the hotel staff training part interesting. I bet they present to all hotel staff that human trafficking and prostitution are the same thing. Thus, if they see a room with a lot of activity, they are going to have been indoctrinated to think "OMG, that is probably human trafficking and I have to do my part to stop it". I see a lot of hotels being pressured to work in conjunction with LEO now.

Anytime there's a major bust, there are always politicians and wealthy customers. Laws don't change because the people with power never get in trouble and tough on the wages of sin plays well with the bases on the left and the right. Well that's nothing new. Looks like it's still going to be a while in this Puritan nation if the federal DOJ is still taking the time and resources to do operations, stings, and press releases like this.
