If so, what are some signs or criteria you use to filter out the high probability scams from the potentially real providers prior to sending.

People have sent deposits to providers they've seen several times, and who are always on time, and the provider has 1000 excuses why they can't meet. They said they'll apply it to the next visit, and then find a way to weasel out of that. They will claim they don't remember, or accuse the John of being rude to justify not meeting him.

Personally I just wouldn't do it.

For me deposits are a no go because I don't see the justification for it. If I need to pay to secure a spot then you're probably too high volume to be requiring deposits to book a spot. If I need to pay because you've had no shows then I can largely expect a bad experience because you'll hold any past deeds by other men against me. If I have to sign up to only fans or give a deposit to prove I'm real then I'm happy for you to think I'm fake.

I have over the years prepaid for a session with someone I knew or "given" money again to someone I knew. 9/10 times it wasn't worth it because most women don't want to be prostitutes and try to forget.

As to how to recognize a scam. A huge thing you'll see is they ask for the deposit once you get to the hotel. If you have this happen then leave. They've essentially bated you to the location to trigger you into being more pliable. Another common one is asking you to sign up for only fans.

I don't want this to get too long but I don't pay deposits. Nothing against guys who do but I don't think it's a good choice. If anything, prostitutes and escorts should be going out of their way to prove they're real, show guys a good time and so forth. FWIW I don't send cancellation fees either.

Got me kinda curious. What are your hard rules?

Mine are:

-I NEVER send a deposit.
-I prefer BBBJ. But CFS is a must for me.
-I don't spend more than $400/ hr.

I use a completely different approach. The method that I use for choosing who to contact in the first place eliminates the need for most of your rules. I only consider providers that have multiple of the following:

1. An ad on Tryst or P411. I haven't figured out how to verify many of the Eros or Models World ads that have only pictures and a phone number.

2. A personal website.

3. A presence on Twitter (X).

4. Reviews on TER or PD.

This usually gives me enough information to decide if the provider is my type, both physically and for personality. After reviewing all of this, I have a really good idea whether I would want to spend time with and money on a provider.

It also means that the provider is treating this as a business, so it more than likely guarantees to break a couple of your rules, in particular max of $400/ hr and no deposit. Since she is treating this as a business, a deposit scam is totally against her interest, and trying to please a customer for possible repeat business is very much her goal. I'd say that I've paid a deposit for more than half of my visits, and I've never been scammed.
