The issue is often when you enter multiple $ signs, like $$ for $200 or $$$ for $300, as an example, the site drops a $. So $$$ shows as $$. Then It causes another post to clarify. That's why I abandoned the code a couple of years ago.

LOL. I never noticed that big "Abbreviations" tab. I always clicked on "FAQ" in the sub-menu and scrolled to the bottom for a list of terms which doesn't include these dollar sign notations.

That still doesn't answer the question for how to indicate something that costs less than $, AND it also seems sort of silly since it only adds confusion instead of actually hiding anything from unintended viewers.
