Exactly why I hate it when you are kept waiting in a motel parking lot. It's amazing how quickly 20-30 min can pass from a bunch of excuses 'give me a minute', 'one sec', or just getting ghosted.

I've had one time where a cop pulled up behind me and asked why I was there. I made up something like 'pulled over to look for directions'. He then checked my record (which was clean) and warned me that it's not a good place to pull over because of drug activity. I suppose you could easily say you pulled over to answer a call too. I've often wondered what I'd do if a cop questioned me as I was outside of my car in the hotel. I once had a hotel owner question me then make me leave. It is private property after all.
