Out of curiosity, does anyone have a reason for using the code when it comes to donations? I have no doubt "our least favorite uncle" (phrase borrowed from John), breaks any code we use, but it confuses many of the members.

I've seen some people use $$$ as a way of explaining donations, but I've yet to understand the value of " Some use it to mean 100 while others use it to mean 80. Likewise we've got the code which utilizes spaces still another that uses decimals. It's all very confusing. Why doesn't everyone just put the amount out? 100 or 80 or 60?

The reason is this site had $ = $100 on their abbreviation list for over 10 years. Only in the last 60 days has the USASG abbreviation list been updated and many commonly used abbreviations like $ = 100 are no longer on the list. People who have been using this site for years will still use the old abbreviations because its what they are use too.

Yep. Everybody has different notions about looks and preferences. I have learnt what you have learnt a long time. There are some recommendations I have followed and reported.
