Posts: 1170The recognized incompetence began when thousands of plastic shims needed to be replaced for the tracks at over $100 K. The shims when start to crack due to exposure to the elements (salt, water, sun) and delays in construction. Kahikina may be more forthcoming about the project (with her at the helm), but I shudder to think of what's next when more truths surface (you can tell she shuddering, too, by her demeanor on news conferences).

Posts: 1561Incompetent engineers should pay for mistakes
You would think the City would be smart enough to put a contract clause making the engineering company responsible for fixing such a gross error, but apparently us taxpayers again getting the shaft while they enrich themselves. Or the stupid City Council forgot to update their insurance coverage for such a blunder? Unless of course they getting some "bla-toe" under the table?

This kinda sounds like the Sua family. All 7 of them stay in prison. The most infamous one was John. Killed one guard when he was 15! The incident he was most remembered for was when he stabbed the guy in the neck with one kitchen knife. Leaving the other guy paralyzed.

Posts: 360It boggles my mind how bad the idiots running the rail are fucking this up. It's not like they had other rail systems or different trains to join up with that would have compatibility issues. They literally are building the track to match the wheels, how do they screw that up?

Posts: 5123Ensuring that the wheels properly fit the tracks at the track crossing points (rather than being about one-half inch too narrow) is something of such essential importance that it should have been done long ago. Now, according to a news report, "replacing the wheels will add too much weight to the trains," but "replacing the tracks would push the timeline back a year". Plus, there's reportedly "subpar welding and sandblasting that created cracks". Honolulu's rail boondoggle is like something managed by The Three Stooges.

The democratic system is still alive and well. We all have the right and the ability to change things. DON'T RE-ELECT the crooks. Don't let the crooks bring in their buddies to take their places. If you are as unhappy as I am with the way this state is run, vote!! Vote at every opportunity and never vote for an incumbent!! Even if we get haphazard government, it will be better than the "good old boy" cronyism that is in place now. It starts at the bottom. Neighborhood board elections are underway now. Vote only for people who haven't had any experience. Same thing applies at the next general election. If we send Masie Hirono back to Washington, we deserve the idiocy that she represents.

Posts: 6Rail is a big joke
The rails wheels are too thin and the tracks are too wide, no shit! Break it down already before the first leg from Ewa breaks apart before 2035.

Posts: 1561Add Incentive to catch this criminal
HPD should "dip" into their drug evidence room and offer a "special" no questions asked stash of drugs so that his own family turns him in just to get another "hit". Bet all those cockroaches will be coming out of every corner to partake.

We taxpayers no can catch one break. One inmate costs $30 K per year (or more) to house, feed, medical, dental, etc. The rail stay holding us prisoners in our own backyards. Sweetheart deals to further drain monies from public works programs and projects until dry. Fraud, malfeasance, embezzlement, the list goes on (of theft from public projects and programs funded by taxpayers). I stay in the wrong business.

Too bad its not like in the Wild West, when wanted criminals have their posters displayed with $$$ Dead or Alive and now questions asked by law enforcement when they get to clean out the files on these criminals.

Look at what happened when Tulsi Gabbard stood up against her own party (Democrats), all of them turned on her.
