When I google search Midpoint Hotel the google images show the same place I was at that is now called Port Motel oddly enough.

Understand the confusion. A search on maps. google.com shows the motels located as they actually are: Port south of SS and Mid Point north of SS. Addresses are "West Appleton Ave. " which makes it even more confusing considering that SS runs E-W and Appleton is pretty much north-S.

Both places look rather placid during the day. I had occasion to go to Mid Point late hours on a summer night to rescue a girl. HOLY SHIT MOTHER OF GOD WHAT A SCENE! Place was like an anthill with activity. Looked like something from "Cops" or "Live PD". People, cars, guys standing around outside on their phones. All AA, of course, and here's Old White Guy, way out of his element. AA dude pulls up next to my "poised for exit" car and asks what I'm doing there. Engaged him in some polite ghetto trash talk, got asked if I was looking for drugs or pussy. Just told him that I was taking care of some personal business. Very glad to exfil from that site!

Had occasion to talk to a cop at the local precinct and could practically see the eyes get wide over the phone when I told him I had been to Mid Point. They know exactly what goes on there and I got the impression that they leave it alone unless they have to go there for a murder or something. Wow!

Walmart or Best Buy. I have an el-cheapo Nokia that I bought at Best Buy and I buy minutes from Net 10 at $25/1000 minutes /30 days, no contract. I buy the minutes on-line so I don't know if the same deal is available on the cards in stores.

I had a flip phone before the current one and really liked it. More convenient to flip it open instead of having to push 2 buttons to unlock the screen before any function. And I didn't have to worry as much about damage. Wish I could find another that would take Net10.

Hey DM. You may want to use a little more caution when purchasing your minutes. If you purchase them online, you will leave a credit card trail. You can go into WalMart and buy cards with cash to load into your phone. I know that someone will say that they can track the card purchase back to the store and probably pull up a picture of you buying the cards. I'd seriously doubt that they would dig that deep unless there was a murder involved.

The minute you offer a statement, especially if the statement is a lie, they got you. Lying to lLE is a crime, and if they don't like you or think you are making fun of them or if their ego gets bruised, there are cops that will use all of their investigative powers and try to hem you up. None of the money they will spend to mess with you will come out of their pocket. Don't talk to cops without a lawyer present, and please don't lie to them.

If you are in a room with cops, no statements or talking without lawyer period, in agreement. If they call you and ask about something about a text message about prostitution and happen to use your real day to day phone, like I said you were writing and talking with imaginative powers and thought she was collaborating on a new movie script or at the time the phone wasn't with you. Stupidest thing you can do is offer a statement or answer their questions. Charged with misdemeanors. No lawyer needed if you don't cooperate with their investigation. To start off I am not familiar with Milwaukee and I just started exploring these forums because of last night. Interestingly enough I just read a post from over 5 years ago that this motel use to be called the Midpoint Motel and it is notoriously known for stick ups. Little did I know as I walked up to this girls room at 2:30 AM. Thankfully though I parked down the street just to be safe. I agree that merely having a phone no in her phone proves nothing. The idea they have to "catch you in the act" is demonstrably false. This has been mentioned a few times before, but in the somewhat famous Beaver Dam case a few years ago they charged the gal with 29 misdemeanor counts and 3 felonies, and charged 12 or 14 men (I forget the exact number) with 29 matching misdemeanor counts, ALL based on phone, computer and written records, and ALL for things that took place 1-3 years previously. Everyone plead guilty. Furthermore, for almost all police stings, there is no "act". Its all charged based on agreeing to pay for a sex act, no act necessary.

I know some guys get annoyed when a provider won't tell exactly what she'll do and for how much prior to meeting. However frustrating that is, it can be a legitimate effort to not say something that could trigger charges if the communication every falls into the hands of LE. You are similarly putting yourself at increased risk by having that kind of conversation.

Gals or guys who keep communications on their phones or computers instead of routinely deleting them are also at increased risk, though a really determined LE can sometimes recover deleted items. In the Beaver Dam case they sent the computers to the state crime lab for forensic analysis and subpoenaed the full email history from google gmail.

To the best of my knowledge "Port" is on south of Silver Spring, "Mid Point" is a block or so north of Silver Spring. Both are to be avoided, IMO.

Personally I'd avoid ALL the shit house motels on Appleton Ave. And the one on 62nd and FonDuLac also.

Best Buy should have a selection of no-contract phones, along with cards for prepaid minutes from a variety of providers. Pay cash for both the phone and cards, do not link the phone to any existing service you may have. In the case of ATT prepaid cards the card will expire 90 days after purchase. You do not have to add those minutes to your phone immediately, but once you do, the minutes will expire in 30 days regardless of how many you have used. You will then need to purchase another card. They are available in different amounts depending on how much data you will be using but all include unlimited calling and texting if memory serves. Their basic card costs $35.

It may be different with other carriers.
