The minute you offer a statement, especially if the statement is a lie, they got you. Lying to lLE is a crime, and if they don't like you or think you are making fun of them or if their ego gets bruised, there are cops that will use all of their investigative powers and try to hem you up. None of the money they will spend to mess with you will come out of their pocket. Don't talk to cops without a lawyer present, and please don't lie to them.

Posts: 1267Walmart or Best Buy. I have an el-cheapo Nokia that I bought at Best Buy and I buy minutes from Net 10 at $25/1000 minutes /30 days, no contract. I buy the minutes on-line so I don't know if the same deal is available on the cards in stores.

I had a flip phone before the current one and really liked it. More convenient to flip it open instead of having to push 2 buttons to unlock the screen before any function. And I didn't have to worry as much about damage. Wish I could find another that would take Net10.

Posts: 195Stupidest thing you can do is offer a statement or answer their questions. Charged with misdemeanors. No lawyer needed if you don't cooperate with their investigation. So what if her / his phone has conversation with them. Is the person dead, raped, or beaten then sorry. We were practicing for the next Leaving Las Vegas, coming out in 2025 keep an eye out for it. Thank you! Bye!

Posts: 195Hello Mr / Ms Officer! What Happend? Really? Wow! Well, I remember my crazy uncle Leonard with psychotic tendencies borrowed my phone and refused to give it back to me, now I know why. Pretty simple. Be smart, never talk about what may have happend. Your number is public, your phone has a tendency to be borrowed or you have a graphic imagination and thought you were writing the next Leaving Las Vegas. Good luck Gentlemen!

Midpoint is still there, just down the road maybe half a mile. Sucks getting burned for 3, but you made it home.

Never discuss acts of service. Asked about donation and incall or outcall. Just like talking to a SW thru your car window, never talk about services.

Posts: 2814Personally I'd avoid ALL the shit house motels on Appleton Ave. And the one on 62nd and FonDuLac also.

Best Buy should have a selection of no-contract phones, along with cards for prepaid minutes from a variety of providers. Pay cash for both the phone and cards, do not link the phone to any existing service you may have. In the case of ATT prepaid cards the card will expire 90 days after purchase. You do not have to add those minutes to your phone immediately, but once you do, the minutes will expire in 30 days regardless of how many you have used. You will then need to purchase another card. They are available in different amounts depending on how much data you will be using but all include unlimited calling and texting if memory serves. Their basic card costs $35.

Have a different risk. Try explaining to your wifey why you have a 2nd phone hidden.

Posts: 1798I'm guessing you may be the only one that told them you now live out of state. If they are monitoring this board they can now link you to your real name. I'd dump this account and start a new one.

She was a SW on Greenfield and carrying a heavy heavy habit about 3 years ago. She got clean and was clean for about 2 years before relapsing last year. She was doing the notel thing with her AA boyfriend until he went to jail. She landed back on Greenfield. Her appearance took a big nosedive. He's out now and they are back to the notel thing. Like most, the longer she's using the worse her appearance becomes.

Good advice. Where is the best place to buy a burner phone?

If I recall the case correctly. They pretty much hung themselves. The provider talked and all the johns talked. At least the ones that got charged. What do you want to bet theses people all showed up without a lawyer and thought they could outsmart a professional investigator. The police can lie to you, tell you that they have evidence that doesn't exist, and get you to hang yourself.

Posts: 186I agree that merely having a phone no in her phone proves nothing. The idea they have to "catch you in the act" is demonstrably false. This has been mentioned a few times before, but in the somewhat famous Beaver Dam case a few years ago they charged the gal with 29 misdemeanor counts and 3 felonies, and charged 12 or 14 men (I forget the exact number) with 29 matching misdemeanor counts, ALL based on phone, computer and written records, and ALL for things that took place 1-3 years previously. Everyone plead guilty. Furthermore, for almost all police stings, there is no "act". Its all charged based on agreeing to pay for a sex act, no act necessary.

However frustrating that is, it can be a legitimate effort to not say something that could trigger charges if the communication every falls into the hands of LE. You are similarly putting yourself at increased risk by having that kind of conversation.
Gals or guys who keep communications on their phones or computers instead of routinely deleting them are also at increased risk, though a really determined LE can sometimes recover deleted items. In the Beaver Dam case they sent the computers to the state crime lab for forensic analysis and subpoenaed the full email history from google gmail.
