Posts: 13634As for parlors, the feedback I got today from 6 parlors was that nobody was wearing a face mask.

Posts: 594We are over 50 K deaths in the US already, on April 24, only another 10 K between now and September would be an excellent outcome -- seems unlikely though. If I was a betting man, I would take the over.

Hopefully the MANNER in which these places open up again will show that it isn't such a bad idea as feared. News footage I have seen, while purely anecdotal, does suggest that most of these establishments are taking safety precautions, such as the wearing of face masks and comprehensive disinfecting between customers, even if they can't maintain 6 feet of social distancing. But that's hair salons and tattoo parlors -- massage parlors, which is obviously what we are all most concerned about specifically, are the wild card. Of course, we are looking at this question from the perspective of the types of massages that WE like to get, but there's no reason why both masseuse and customer can't be wearing face masks during a legitimate massage.
Anyway, looking forward to reading accounts of how this is working on the practical level, both in Georgia in general and in our little corner of the hobby specifically.

Posts: 325Yes, and when then the CDC can start catching up on the backlog of cadaver tests to see if Covid was a cause of death / contributing factor, we will get a better picture. Honestly, if you want to gamble with your health, by all mean feel free. Just keep at least 6 feet away from anyone when you are out, that it not too big an ask.

Posts: 1011Sorry. But odds are against 200k-2 million dying of China Virus. Sad, isn't it
'But the USC data does offer some reassuring news: COVID-19 death rates may be lower than expected. When experts factor in those additional cases, the mortality rate plummets to less than 0.2 percent. '.

'which translates to approximately 221,000 to 442,000 adults in the county who have been infected. That estimate is 28 to 55 times higher than the 7,994 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported to the county at the time of the study in early April. '.

Posts: 2337Well, U.S. President Cuomo, opps sorry I meant NewYork Governor Cuomo, had every reason to be concerned about how fast COVID-19 was spreading in NewYork. See attached chart.

In the worst week of the 2017-18 flu season, New York saw 218 deaths from flu and pneumonia and 2,098 total from all causes. Last week, the state saw 4,694 reported Covid-19 deaths alone. These figures must put to rest the dying with but not of line of skepticism. The idea that this many people would have died anyway even without Covid-19 is simply not credible.
