That's really optimistic. It was less than 10 years ago that IL *increased* the penalty for "patronizing a prostitute" to a class 4 felony. I wouldn't call it optimistic at all. A lot can change in 10 years. Marijuana was being called a gateway drug and people were spending time in jail and prison for possession 10 years ago. Now it's legal. If you look up to our Canadian friends up north, it's high regulated but keeps things in check. It solves a lot of problems that we have here. Once the boomers start dying in our government, I think a system to protect the sex workers will be put into place. Let's be honest though, the prosecution of the sex trade has always been about generating revenue. If the Federal, State, Local governments can get their share I see no reason why this won't happen.

I honestly think the biggest hurdle will be getting over the false narrative of human trafficking. Law enforcement has used that to trample the rights of people, all under the guise of saving ladies from these situations. There is so much in your reply to go over. I have no doubts these women are dumb enough to just give them their unlocked phone. It's not just understanding their rights, but it's they usually have other reasons (drugs) for an arrest. Also cops, legally or illegally, do harass people. I don't doubt your story at all.

Just keep this is mind, cops can harass and arrest you for just about anything. You can be innocent and still get arrested. Doesn't matter.
