I am white and have talked with a few providers. From what they told me its more that you might run in the same circles they hang out with too (Asian community). I've asked some bookers about references and a couple have replied that they only will act as a reference to, or accept a reference from, other bookers that they know. I think some have become more cautious in the past couple of years as a precaution rather than to retain their base. If they don't know a booker, how do they know if that booker does a good job of vetting a client or even if that booker is legit?
