Thanksgiving day's here. Would like to wish one and all a great holiday. Of course this also includes Admin. I was thinking of inviting some of the girls over for some turkey. I gave up on that idea. I just hate being called a turkey. I just love the girls that get in my car this time of year and after agreeing to terms asking if I would like gravy with that. What are you crazy? Another thought is this. There have been some new faces on the street lately. Curious if they are pros or is that on the job training. This is why I think this is different. Philadelphia had decades of depopulation since the 1960's.

Now, new construction homes that are going for $350 K to $425 K are pushing up against Jasper st south of Lehigh.

These are the working class people that made a stink about it in years past. Now, these are big name realtors and developers with deep pockets, and millions of dollars in commissions and developer profits are at stake here. If you go to realtor dot com you'll see the realtors selling these houses 1-3 blocks right off the Ave are the same ones you see on the billboards across the city.

I know the purpose of this forum is to post reviews; however, I think all of us wouldn't mind having a vision of what the stroll will look like in the next 5 years or so. Did your friend elaborate specifically on what those attempts are to improve the stroll? Inquiring minds want to know.

Personally I think that south of Lehigh the stroll is dying if you compare it to 4-5 years ago. The constant police saturation compared to other neighborhoods is also taking its toll.

Made some passes on the K tonight between 8:30 and 10:00 PM. Looks like Uncle is setting up his own little Gang-bang. If I look at the development trend, most of the new construction up until now has been limited to Coral st, Arizona, and York St. Far enough way from the main zones that those people don't notice anything day to day.

However there are now housing going pending on the 1900 block of E Cumberland which the entirely block was previously a dead zone. New Construction popping up randomly on Jasper, E Firth, and other locations close to the stroll. Believe it or not these people are paying $350 K to $400 K to live a few blocks from the Ave. Have a look at realtor dot com if you don't believe me.
I would just say with lots of new residents pouring into the neighborhood who have alot of money at stake, will come increased activism and increased pressure to push everything north of Lehigh.

I agree there is a lot of redevelopment going on around the area between Cumberland and Lehigh.

It has been my experience that Working girls always find a way to infiltrate any neighborhood they want. To prove my point. Jasper and Allegheny was a prime pick up spot back in the sixties and seventies. They even had LEO as some of their best clients. Back when LEO had red cars they would pull right up on that corner and get one of the girls put her in the back seat. Take her down by the river pound her pussy till she walked funny and then drop her off. That was a working class neighborhood back then. Yes there was all kinds of community actions taking place. Seemed to make for good business for the girls.

If the guys didn't have a short they would go into the Midway movie theater right there where the open lot is now. Do their business and be on their way.

Another area that seemed to be a thorn for the community was Wamrath Park right there where Kensington meets up with Frankford Ave under the El. That's just below the Church Station. There was all kinds of protests there cause some girls would do a date right there in the park. The neighbors complained and rightly so because the kids could see what was going on. So the area was "cleaned up" for a while. Now look, its right back where it was back in the day.

My educated guess would be if the area around Jasper St changes because of the girls it will be a minor change cause the girls go where the money and drugs is. The drug issue no matter how much money in redevelopment is pumped into an area will never be gone. I've always said the cops are terrified of dealing with the drug problem there. So the developers can build all they want. The only thing going for that area is the El train. Front st shopping is all but destroyed.

As for the activists "cleaning up" the area. Highly doubtful. What the girls have to sell knows no economic boundaries. If that neighborhood faces a change the girls will just wear better clothes so they blend in.

Remember, the surrounding area was once a prime location to live because of the El and the shopping along with the factories to support the area. So with new construction there is really no surrounding support for longevity. People that buy the properties can't shop Front St. The hospital is a disgrace. Whatever the new residents want or need, they will need to leave the area to get. That's a pretty sad reality there. So again its my best guess the drugs and the girls will remain. They will just need to blend in a little better. Me, I'm just an 'OL Gator.

I always appreciate a different view point and especially anyone providing intel that avoids bad scenes. That is the point of the boards. Appreciate the contribution.

But also, I am curious. How does this development relate to increased danger? What is the higher risk involved that normal precautions (following the rules) would not protect one from? What am I missing?

There's a lot of new construction just east of the ave which is moving slowly and I think the developers are getting nervous that they built too far into the hood. I would use extra caution along Jasper as there is still more development slated for this corridor, with plans to get new residents to use the Huntingdon station. It came all the way up Berks and I think they want everything up to Lehigh to get gentrified.

Picked up Sarah on Jasper at Hazzard or so. She's a mid 20's brunette, was wearing a Queen sweatshirt. Got pulled over by LEO shortly after with her in the car, but that didn't seem to be an issue, and we got on our way. Did ask her after that if she was a cop, she said she thought we were kind of past that already. Told me she'd do anything, but car date pretty much limited me to BBBJ, which was top notch. No phone.
