I've been car dating here for about the past 6 months now. I've seen her spiral down hill fast. About 15 years ago I tried to be kind and found myself getting sucked into a SW life. Did it for about a month and found it difficult to separate because she knew a few important personal facts that she could use against me. If I just dumped her, she would cause problems for me. My solution was a two step process. First, claimed poverty (Honey, I want to see you so bad today but I don't have gas money. Can you give me $10 for gas to come visit?) Second, when I had gas I drove her to her old drug buddy and let them hang out in a shack for a couple days until the were both too wasted to even recognize me.

I felt bad that I pushed her to the drug life, but it was either her or me. Like Muff said. Protect yourself.

This happened to me also. I just broke it off recently. She is actually back in rehab right now. She just got out of rehab four months ago. I did not want her on the streets. I was paying her rent. I wasted a lot of time, money and emotions with this girl. She strung me out for over a year with promises that she will be a good girlfriend once she gets well. When she went to rehab the first time, I sent her care packages, clothes, and some money. This time when she went to rehab, she went with the clothes on her back. She begged me to help, stating that she had no one else. I'm not sending care packages or money. I'm not sending her shit. She will do this on her own. Maybe then she will think twice before she tries to use people again.
