Nothing much here. Lots of first and second contacts, then radio silence with no warning. None of those I've hit back after 7-10 days of cooling off have replied. When I was younger and married I was much more in the category of enjoying the risk itself, and my need for variety was far less controllable. In fact the urges were so great that I think I would have always been somewhat dissatisfied in my marriage until I pursued those urges.

These days it's a bit different. As much as I do crave the variety, I don't have the need to pursue risk just for the sake of risk, because I have so many years of it under my belt that there is kind of a "been there, done that" feeling. And as you said, my relationship is very rewarding in itself, so I have very little motivation to do anything that would threaten it.

The only time I get weak is when she has to travel to deal with family matters, I get a sudden sense of boredom and not knowing what to do with myself, then my mind starts to work in adventurous ways. I decide to travel to some new area just for a change of scenery and to cure the boredom, and since nobody knows me in that area, why not have a nice young piece of ass on my arm at the same time? Aside from that I actually have very little desire or motivation to cheat on her.

It sounds hard to believe but I only do it because I hate being alone when she travels, and I don't have a network of friends to hang out with during those times like I did when I was younger. Damn Maslow! Psychologically the need for variety is deep seated and has to do with protecting the species. I believe that once one's appetite and hunting skills are honed that it is near impossible to suppress it. A higher cortical development differentiates us from lower species--reasoning and conscience to name a few. How can some men resist it where others cannot?
