IMPD will have more than 200 undercover officers on downtown streets the week before and the week of the Super Bowl. They each will carry a Smartphone and a handgun. More than 1600 police officers 1200 firefighters and 300 EMTs are working the week of the Super Bowl. Officers from police departments outside the city have been hired to work security at bars, including strip clubs, and other businesses downtown.

More than 70 police surveillance cameras will be used downtown, not counting the new video cameras installed around Lucas Oil Stadium, the Indiana Convention Center and Georgia Street. Lucas Oil Stadium has fine-tuned its DAS system, which is provided by Verizon Wireless. It's safe to say if you're going to be downtown the week of the game, you will be on video at some point.

A primary reason for the increased security is because the Super Bowl has a Special Event Assessment Rating (SEAR) of 1 by the Department of Homeland Security. To compare, the Indy 500 is a SEAR 3 event.

An IMPD helicopter will join 4 helicopters from USA Customs and Border Protection, and they will be in the skies mainly the week of the Super Bowl. USA Customs and Border Protection is bringing three X-ray trucks into the city.

I think the last two items are for terrorism so that really doesn't have anything to do with, well, you know.

Sixty-five IMPD officers have been assigned to monitor online activity the week before and the week of the big game.

With all that, I doubt if LE is looking for smokers in non-smoking establishments.

Estimated budget for police officers, including overtime, during that two-week period: 4 million roses. It's not clear if that figure is for IMPD officers or all the officers, including the ones from outside cities working in bars and other businesses, on duty during that time frame.

What I'm estimating: Doughnut places in an around the Circle City are ordering tons of extra batter and will do very well.

I was going to Cincy / NKY this weekend to see family and texted, emailed, and tried reaching three ladies who I had talked with before. One did get back but she was outcall only and this man does not like to leave paper trails so I asked her to give me a heads up, <no pun intended at this time smile when she got an incall, and she said she would. Sometimes I act just like some of my hunting dogs that turned out to not be too bright. They get on a scent, and no matter how futile or how many retracks they have to do, they just won't let go of it.
