It's a quick shortcut to put money in their pockets to feed their families or spend partying or whatever they'd like to do with it.

Here's another angle to consider. Let's go under the assumption that one of them was in an abusive relationship or multiple abusive relationships. What would you do if you suddenly found out one day that you are wife or significant other was getting pounded for money by multiple dudes daily or a few days a week or whatever? Imagine you found that out and you had absolutely no idea before that. Your world would come crashing down.
