It is likely she looked suspicious for waiting too long and they face matched her as illegal immigrant who was on a visa overstay. Never get too comfortable as an illegal. She should have stayed far away from an airport where at any moment a US customs official can question you for paperwork. TSA usually doesn't bother as they are there for the safety of US travelers but CBP do hang around and have been know to randomly question people.
