Completely different situation. Your friend's crooked contractor was the legitimate payee. In the case of the check stolen by the SW, the cashed check was fraudulently made or endorsed. I believe that the bank takes the hit in this case, not the account holder. Of course, if the check was made out TO our brother monger and already endorsed BY him, that changes things. In that case, we have a classic example of a stupidity tax.

I wasn't sure of the circumstances with this check ripoff, I wouldn't put anything past some of these girls. One girl I knew real well years ago (whose name will go unmentioned) told me about a local scammer who would use her name and social security number and would file bogus tax returns. When he got the check, she would receive 600 to 800 dollars. She and other girls did this for several years and got away with it. I see an occasional review on her, so I guess she never got caught.

My friend thought he was safe until Southwest liquor's lawyer hauled him into court. The judge said there is a law to protect merchants called "holder in due course"Long story short my friend made a police report, the thief lived out of state, so he was out $1500. Live and learn.

Was out in BP area around 2100 didn't find much lots of LE. It seems to be getting worse. Saw Frankie walking down Patapsco but she was with a group so didn't bother. Swooped by Pontiac but wasn't much. As I was heading down I see a WSW dressed in pink. She was slim akups around 5' 5" with long dark blond hair. Swung by to pick her up. Says her name is Jessica did the check and off we go. She is fairly new to the area. She used to live on Harford but recently moved to BP. Settle for a BBBJ for standar tuition. That's only one thing of many that have happened. Up here, just about every SW has a cop "friend" that helps her out with either drugs or protection from getting busted and she helps him with free service!

Cops get the best weed and drugs for free and then work them back into the local economy. They are the real job creators- hand, blow, rim, you name it.
