I am not too deep into mongering yet, I am still doing a lot of reading first. Apparently, HSV-2 (genital herpes) is not curable, can be transmitted skin-to-skin (between the "boxer shorts" area of two people, so wearing a condom is better, but still leaves you vulnerable) asymptomatically (no visible break-outs) due to shedding by carriers. Most carriers of HSV-2 will remain asymptomatic for the rest of their lives. The only way to minimize risk of receiving HSV-2 from penetrative vaginal sex with a provider would be to use a condom, hope she is not having an asymptomatic outbreak, and is taking anti-virals.

I haven't sworn off dating or having kids (risk of neonatal herpes) one day, and I would hate to have to disclose to prospective partners if I become HSV2 positive, if it wasn't hard enough to find a good one already.

There is also hpv which I think almost everyone sexually active with multiple partners have. Heck teenagers get that, that's why they have the vaccine in school. I got that also but the problem was it caused a complication. Anal warts. Even though I've never engaged in anything Greek, apparently some how the virus can spread from general to rectum. Doctor sent to colorectal doctor who wanted to do surgery. I was scared and chickened out. Luckily it went away on its own as my immune system was strong enough to fight it off and avoid unnecessary surgery. Only concern there is in some cases the warts don't go away and can later in life potentially turn cancerous.

There's also mrsa which I caught before. Technically not an std but it's still spread by skin contact especially by these girls who are iv drug needles. That's not to say there's not other STIs you can get but anyone involved in this hobby should do their research on what you can get, how to prevent and how to treat it case-by-case.
