Hello everyone. I have a beginner's question, as I haven't been involved in this scene for very long.

Have any of you ever been asked to provide gift cards as payment? I saw an ad posted by a woman and reached out to her, but she told me she doesn't accept cash or deposits. Instead, she said I would have to bring a physical eBay gift card to our meeting place as the form of payment.

Howeversince I'm new to thisI'm not sure if that's considered standard practice or if it's actually a red flag. On top of that, I did some further digging into her profile and photos, and I discovered another profile using very similar images for self-promotion. I also noticed that the person in the photos is somewhat well-known on X, so the pictures might very well be fakebut why would she specifically ask for a *physical* gift card?

Depending how deep they feel like playing you, they'll direct you to a local apartment complex (the first thing they ask is "what city are you in") then, depending on the type of gift card, they might make up a story about having their kids needing to be 'babysat' by video games. Then they have you pay for it by revealing the gift card numbers, the pins and whatever scratch-off codes there are. Of course promising you the apartment number once you give them the info. The sexytime never happens.

Or once you get the card they might not even tell you a hotel to drive to. They might want the numbers first. Either way, whenever you respond to an ad that's not an ACS and they ask "what city," you can expect a scam of some sort coming.

That was my initial thought as well; whenever I've been overseas its much more common and legit for it to be done through signal, WhatsApp, or telegram, and I've had 50/50 with it here in the states.

Like I said; more than likely TGTBT, but if she is legit, I'm diving in.

WhatsApp and Telegram numbers are pretty big hints at not being legit. Not 100% sure but I've rarely encountered anyone with either who wasn't some scammer in a basement somewhere.

WhatsApp is the most preferred escort contact method overseas. It's also very convenient and free! Messaging, videos, calls, texts, etc! Anywhere in the world! Very similar to FB Messenger. I use it almost exclusively over here in Cyprus and it works like a charm!

What I have found weird is that sometimes I am looking at hooker ads on the various platforms, sometimes I will look at an ad a few times for what ever reason. Later I will be on my own FB account and "BOOM" there she is as a suggested friend. Not sure if the computers tie IP address together or what. But if it happens to us happens to them.

Your phone stores metadata. Platforms have access to that metadata. Based on contact chains and associations derived from that metadata, they can propose or advertise things they think you would be interested in. It's like passive targeting.
