I'm not really sure how to put this into words. It's just something that's been on my mind for the past couple of days.

I met a girl about a year ago. The first time I saw her, I remember thinking how surprisingly pretty she was. She had that girl next door kind of feeling, with a soft, sweet smile. We would chat once in a while, and she was always easy to talk to, warm, a little funny, the kind of person you just feel relaxed around.

Sometimes when I was stressed, I would go see her. And every time, I left feeling a bit lighter, both physically and emotionally.

I saw her again two days ago after not seeing her for a long time. She looked so thin, almost fragile. Her face seemed tired, and her eyes felt distant, like something inside had slowly faded away.

I used to think that someone like her would have had a good life, or at least a fair chance at one. The way she spoke, the way she carried herself, it felt like she must have come from something stable, something normal.

But now she's living day by day in a worn down motel, and it's hard not to feel like something went terribly wrong along the way.

I don't really know what I'm trying to say. It's just. It's been two days, and this quiet, strange sadness is still there.
