I guess my question is, is this normal? I only have experience with the two agencies, and the stark contrast between the responses I got from them make me question what I did wrong, given all the good reviews for BR.

When an agency has been around a long time, they have a lot of long-time regulars. So they will be much stricter about new customers. The same thing happens with bookers too. When problems happen, it becomes clear in hindsight this is the only way.

Reference checks can get tricky between rivals. Hx network makes that easy peasy. It takes some time and effort but it is the way to go. You don't want any PII out there. My advice is to stop messaging him, get 3-4 connections on hx and then try again. Good luck.

I tried to book with Nabi yesterday (Saturday) but she had already left. I asked the booker when she would come back to San Diego, but he said she was retiring and moving back to Korea on the 15th. I know other providers I've seen in the past that have retired delete their own TER's when they retire. Guess they don't want their past to haunt them.
