For those of you trying to remove the 's' from https but it keeps redirecting back to https. There is a setting you can change in the browser to prevent it from redirecting.

I had to do this to get my Microsoft Edge browser to prevent it from automatically redirecting.

Whatever browser you are using, search for How to turn off "Automatically switch to more secure connections".
