Pretty sure they're just from poor backgrounds and looking to make as much money as possible. In my experience talking to them, some seem to want to live and "retire" here. Others are here just to make the money and will return to Korea when it's time to call it a day (and are probably wiring the money home to support family etc).

Whatever it is, they don't do what they do because they like how we fuck or admire our geopolitical role or anything of that kind LOL.
