Posts: 203The reverse photo search only works if your photo is actually searchable on-line otherwise they can search all they want and won't find it. Those facial recognition site such as Tin eye, Google lens, Pim Eyes, Yandex all basically work under the same principal. Now if you have photos on line that are close to the photo you are using then maybe they can figure it out. I reverse photo search every girl I speak with here, I even have other ways to figure out who someone is if and only if they use their real first name and location in their profile.

Seems real, she approached me and is putting in solid effort to work with my ridiculous schedule. I offered $350 and she asked for $400 which she is totally worth. She's a total smoke show. I'll report back Sunday after we meet.

Seems real based on texting. Sending me to a bit of a random spot to pick her up. She's been around for a couple months. Anyone ever met her?

I was using a google voice number, it usually switch around from different text apps but wasnt using my VPN. I have Bitdefender app and was using Iphone fwiw. I don't have pics on SA profile (now closed). I think it was the link I clicked sent my ISP and made me searchable. All the info they came back with is in the public domain but was really all my personal and business info.

Posts: 391Totally then it's too late. But it means if they didn't screen shot it I have a bit more peace of mind. LOL.

Posts: 155You can see that they screenshot it. . . But then it's too late. Next stop is you get a text on your main (not burner) number from them.

I know it's not fool proof, but I don't have face pics on my profile. I won't send face pics over text. I'll either send them on the site or via snap (snap is best). This way I can delete them after they view them. And on snap you can see if they screenshot or save it. (I know they could still use another device to take the pic but that's an extra step that takes time and I try to delete it right away). Not fool proof but maybe a bit better than just having the pics out there.

Posts: 155I don't see video chat being accused of being the compromising action in this thread.

It would help if he confirmed that he had pics on his profile, likely hidden like most of us do (did in my case; I've abandoned Seeking for this reason), that show his face. Or he sent face pics otherwise. Because while I don't have the technical wherewithall to send someone a malicious link, I *can* very likely identify you with a face pic that hasn't been posted online by running it through a website that charges $20-40/ month.

Posts: 265Where does it say he Facetime'd or video chatted? My reading is they were texting off the platform. What got him in trouble was clicking the link. Most likely downloaded what's known as a "drive by" trojan that hacked his phone. Apple claims it cannot happen with iPhone technology but it does. I know someone who had their iPhone hacked a couple months ago and all their accounts with apps installed on the phone were compromised.

Posts: 155It's not a hack and given that it's based on face pics, the use of a voip / burner number doesn't help. Once they have your real name it's easy to get your phone number, street address, and names of relatives from a people verification site that costs $10/ month to subscribe to.

Posts: 155Everyone really needs to learn the risks in 2025 of sending pics that show your face. Whether or not they've ever been posted anywhere online, there are facial recognition websites that'll ID you by comparing the face in the pic to other online pics. I've tried it on myself and it 100% works.

They get the pic, find other pics online of the victim (LinkedIn often) . . . Then to a people search site and get all the identifying info (including your "real" phone number when all you gave them was a burner number) and then onto Facebook etc etc. Can all be done in 5-10 minutes total for sure.
The only way to prevent this is to not send a face pic (or give access to them that are stored on a site such as Seeking). We all get to decide. Because as you write, the "bait" profiles and communication on Seeking looks and sounds 100% normal like any other 20-something woman.

Posts: 155They do it by facial recognition of the pics. Super easy to do.

Anyone know if this one is real? Profile seems like she would be, but getting a weird vibe on text.

Posts: 391Were you using a burner or voip number or your real number? Scary that they can hack you with a link. Are you on iOS?
