For the last month, at one of my usual places for legit massage, they have had a masseuse who is so tired she has literally fallen asleep standing up at every massage I have had with her. (Four plus).

Besides this "issue" she is kinda adorable and very very funny, so I keep asking for her knowing that most girls there changeover after 4 weeks or so anyway. Sure enough, last Friday she informed me this coming week is her last.

In the past I have had girls look really really tired, but none actually fall asleep like this one. Maybe she really does have narcolepsy. If yes, then I can't see her surviving in this career for long.

Not sure why I chose to write this. I guess I just find it kinda funny. Wish I could be a fly on the wall to see how many other customers this happens to.

My birthday is coming up soon and I'm wondering if anyone knows any providers / places that do birthday specials anymore? I've had a few in the past offer something like a discounted or longer session. I've had two different AMPs waive the house fee (still had to tip) also. In all cases I had to show my license to prove it was my birthday. (Showed it in person and I covered everything except picture and birth date.) Some places would advertise it but I don't see that anymore. Any leads would be appreciated. Post or PM is fine.

Guys being cheap is why negotiations are happening up-front for a standard handjob, which used to be expected and not require a negotiation. Some haggling was always required when there is a broader menu. But the reality is that too many guys don't pay the going rate unless forced to do so.

This is all solved if a MMS would introduce no tip at all. I spent some time around NYC in the fall and it was eye opening. $200-260 upfront for an hour with table shower and everything is available. And it really was everything. Not the version of "everything" we're used to in NH, MA or ME. Two girl is $400. No haggle, amazing service and happy times.

That has legal implications for the owners, so I don't expect to see that in any place where there is not enough competition to require it.

One way to explain it to your mamasan friend is that it's like a store putting something on sale. Customers know what it means and will not think it's going to last forever. Put up a sign that says something like "To thank our customers for their business we are temporarily lowering our rates to (whatever)" Maybe even put a date on there when it will end. This can always be extended if business hasn't quite picked up to where she's comfortable. She will need to resist the temptation to start cutting corners by shorting time or not changing / cleaning linens or (as Zimmm33 mentioned) lowering the heat.

I recall BVR in Sutton lowering rates several years ago and it worked. They had it clearly posted in the lobby and in the rooms that it was temporary. They maintained good service and reasonable tips during the sale. At the time I was going there every week and Yuyu / Kay even waived the house fee for me a few times (I still tipped of course) to thank me for being a loyal customer.

I don't try new places as often as I used to because instead of enjoying the massage and looking forward to the flip, I find myself wondering how the negotiation is going to unfold when I turn over. On top of that the quality has declined. I am not even talking about BJ instead of HJ. I'm talking about a good massage and HJ with good technique instead of a jackhammer (you come you come!) and the buzzkill of mid session negotiating. It used to be that almost every girl at a parlor could give a decent massage and gave full time. That's not the case now. They just poke and push, try to jackhammer on the flip, and rush your time so an hour is 45 minutes or less. Combine this with the rising house fees and tips and, well, at a certain point it becomes not worth it. A lower tip, less haggling, and better service would make me visit a place more often.

Many businesses rely on repeat customers and the AMPs are no exception. If you go to a restaurant and the food isn't very good, it's overpriced, the waitress has a bad attitude, and before she brings your food she starts negotiating the tip and wants it now, Are you going to go back there?

Went for my massage today and the mamasan did my massage so we were able to talk all through it. I brought up some of the ideas and she wasn't very receptive, she pretty much echoed some of the things said here, that most gentlemen will think she is cutting corners or service if lowering the price even temporarily. To zimmm33 point she told me that she keeps all her massage rooms at 74-76 all winter long, so that def isn't an issue. She doesn't get involved in the girls haggling, although I told her that was a major turn off and many guys just want the money discussed at the end, she said unfortunately, there are many cheap men who if a dollar amount isn't agreed upon that they will short change the girl. She says when a girl first starts with her she tells them not to talk about the tip and just accept it after and if the guy is cheap to let her know after and she will block him from coming back. Sounds like she is pretty hands off with the girls and lets them do whatever they are comfortable doing, service wise. She also told me that if customers complain to her that a girl puts in no effort or gives a bad massage that she lets her go and the opposite, if they are really good she tries to keep them for a year. I love this stuff and have always been fascinated with the backstory and how it all works, I wish that I could know it all.

So yesterday I go for my usual massage then afterwards I'm hanging out with one of the girls and the mamasan who has 3 local shops, the mamasan was telling me that her shops have not been this slow in 10 years that she has had them and that she is getting nervous, that her rent and expenses are $10,000 a month for the 3 shops and that she didn't make that in December or January. I said, you advertise on STG, why not put in your ads that you are temporarily rolling back your House fee's to 50/30. This concept blew her mind. " I can not do that. Then guys think they can pay that all the time. " I assured her that she could do that and when business is very good again, increase her prices. It was almost like I insulted her. I asked, isn't it better to get 50 twelve times a day then to get 60 twice? She said she would think about it but very unsure. Seem's like a an easy concept to me.

To me, this goes right along with the mentality to leave the rooms freezing all winter. I know I am harping on this all the time, but for me, not shivering through an appointment is REALLY important. I've reached the point where I don't even TRY new places from Nov to April because I am worried about freezing. I just go to the tried and true that have a warm room. I agree with your suggestion 100%. GET CUSTOMERS IN THE DOOR. DUH! I guess the thriftiness must be a cultural thing. Whereas Americans are always looking for a bargain. I rarely visit places that are charging $70 for the hour. Lower it to fifty bucks with a warm room...you are my new go-to place. Z.
