Yes she did say "aids" and no, I did not fight back, just wanted her out of the car as fast as possible. First off, I'll share one time I had a needle-stick injury. It happened sometime within the last decade at a reg's incall. She had a friend who thought it was a good practice to remove the metal tips off needles. One of those metal tips happened to fall on the floor sticking up and I unluckily stepped on it. I have no idea what the hiv status of the person who used that needle was, but I went to an urgent care and got a 1 month prescription to pep / prep, which lowers the risk of acquiring HIV to nearly zero. Years later, I am perfectly fine.

The probability of getting HIV from a needle stick from an hiv positive person is less than 1%. With pep / prep it is nearly zero.

These days, HIV is not really the death sentence that it was in the 80-90's. People who are hiv positive take medications to lower their viral load to where it is completely safe to swap fluids with them. People engaged in high-risk activities are on prep to avoid getting it. They give these medications everywhere for free.

Even if you become hiv positive, some people live normal lives for 10+ years not knowing they have it. And apparently you can go on the meds and live a completely normal life.

The fishiest thing about your story is the use of the word "aids" rather than "hiv". If someone has full blown aids, they would not look good enough to pick up and would not have the strength to be walking around. Maybe I'll give you or her the benefit of the doubt in maybe not knowing the difference.
