I am posting this report here as several members of the massage board suggested via dm.

I see the article about a drug bust done recently and I am seriously starting to wonder how the law works. How are these people being arrested and released and arrested and released over and over and over, for years and years and years?

It's not minor crimes either (like speeding or jaywalkingor trespassing). It's possession of meth and cocaine and identity theft and assault and battery and DUI and on and on and on. I live in NC. Not NY or CA where I'd expect that type of nonsense..

Think about all the folks locked up for weed. That's space that could be used for someone more deserving of being there, especially when 2/3 of the country has recreational use already.

It's definitely suspect. I'd guess that there's an 80% chance of this being a deposit scam and a 20% chance of it being a sting. It's a zero % chance of you having any fun after responding to this ad.

This ad is a red flag alone for the request of sending a deposit. IMO 99% of sending a deposit never ends well. I'm sure there are plenty of mongers who can cite that nothing bad happened. Don't do it, just don't.

So porn shoots are legal (I'm assuming not illegal in NC? So anyone going to operate openly as a porn business? Talk money per movie and scene openly. Shoot on your phone. Could even have an only fans with no subscribers.

Just curious. The talent here is so pathetically bad it doesn't seem worth it. But if you have some UTR you like or something maybe a good idea.

The fantastic UNC Chapel Hill Law School professor Jeff Welty wrote an article about this. The short form answer is that LEO could apply its obscenity or prostitution laws to arrest parties making porn, as the statutes allow for that in NC. However, they likely will never do that (although if a big porn studio moved into NC, I'd bet my ass they would hassle them relentlessly). The biggest reason they wouldn't arrest a small timer is because the Federal Appeals Courts would find for the defendant on a first amendment basis (provided you met the standard, and they would dig into the facts to determine if you were really making art), which would immediately invalidate the statutes that NC has on its books.

If they did charge you though, a defendant would have to pay a mountain of cash for his defense to make it to that point in 3+ years. It might be an effective strategy, however doing it in the open would directly break your cover. My guess is that an HSI team would still attempt to shame you by busting you and releasing your booking photo / information and then dropping the charges after it's been published (they love this tactic).

It's an interesting legal thought experiment though, and if your life circumstances aligned to offset the risks to your reputation, it could be interesting.

It's the Victim Impact Funds limit for this offense (per offense). When they are being convinced to flip (all these teams have counselors trained to sell them on taking this option), they are told they get $12 k. In truth, they must file an application for the expenditure of funds against real expenses (clothing, food, housing, rehab etc). However, Legal Aid will assist them with this application at the courthouses.

I agree with you that the World's Oldest Profession will not be stopped. The point is that I don't want my life, or yours to stop, as we know it, as a result of a junkie that LEO wants to pretend is an innocent princess who just needs a $12 k investment to turn her life around. I'm betting that 9. 5 out of 10 are taking that deal after the HSI psychologist begins working on her. Their loyalty is not the thing we should be banking on. New levels of security are really the goal here.
