Valid point. However, in every form of capitalism, there have always been examples of fraud and deception. I would put highly misleading, fake pics in that category. And potentially rebranding as well, although it depends on the reason for the rebrand. There are sometimes legitimate reasons for rebranding. So, if we look at American-style capitalism as a model, what we are missing is an effective regulator — like the SEC — to crack down on fraud and deception. I doubt that will happen anytime soon. We are operating in the equivalent of the pre-SEC years, when "anything goes" was the rule on Wall Street. All we can rely on is word of mouth, and even that can be highly misleading.

On the other hand, there are many examples of good actors following this business model in the right way. Just look at Chu's latest pics. Those are accurate, she looks gorgeous, and I can't wait to see her. That's a great example of k-girl capitalism working quite well!
