I did the opposite, I had an agency in LA be my reference for VAC. VAC pretty much just verified my number with the LA agency and I was good to go. It helps that I have good rapport with the LA agency and use them quite a bit and gave them a heads up and asked if they could vouch for me for an out of town agency.
