While the Seattle was being overrun by homeless and police not responding to property crime, the cops were busy spending money fucking providers to gather evidence and setting up fake massage parlors to nab immigrants on prostitution charges.

Yes! It's great to see a post from someone who knows the facts of the case. The Swanee Hunt angle was another totally insane aspect of this shitshow. She was paying to impose her brand of "justice" on men because her own father a wealthy Texas oil man was a frequent monger himself. In what world is THAT legal? I read the articles, but didn't go running for the court docs, since it looks like a time sink to hunt them all down. I do think there's a lot of differences between this particular site and the ones we are discussing here, namely the location of the server, ownership, etc. That being said, you are correct: People were prosecuted and their reviews were used as evidence.

From what I can tell, let's look at some factors that allowed the government to pinch these guys: They didn't protect their PII at all. Suppose you're not using a "no-logs" VPN (preferably one you pay for that doesn't collect your info (mullvad comes to mind); you aren't safe. If you use the same username across all the sites for hookers, you aren't being safe. If you don't use a private email service like Protonmail, you aren't being safe. If you're doing public meetups in bars and loudly discussing your hooker hobbies, you aren't being safe. Banging hookers isn't a team sport, IMO, at least in the US.

Some of these poor dipshits did everything they could to help the cops find them. And the assholes that funded this couldn't resist.

And finally, if you don't like the fact that the prosecution used private donors to fund this witch hunt, well, hold on to your hat. You ain't seen nothing yet.

A small number of them were. The vast majority of them were not. You shouldn't paint everyone with the same brush. That's what the King County prosecutor tried to do. Also, keep in mind, the only person who received a multi-year felony prison sentence was convicted for writing reviews on the internet, so-called "promoting" prostitution. He was NOT convicted of anything related to running a business, or profiting at all from the business.

And if you are referring to LAKS, there was no membership fee. I was a member and I never paid a dime. If someone asked you for money, that was a scam.".

The court documents, as I noted earlier, are available from King County and a pain in the ass to order them and read through such a high volume of material. I read them real time, while the case was winding its way through the court system, including the appeals process. The other dismaying aspect of this whole charade was how the press (except for Reason) repeated the District Attorney's lies, when the court docs clearly contradicted what he was saying publicly about "human trafficking" and the girls being "victims" who were forced to work against their will. It was all bullshit, piled on top of bullshit.

King County turned what should have been a minor misdemeanor case into a mountain of illegitimate felony charges that ruined the lives of dozens of good men, nearly all of whom had no criminal record prior to that. Most of the men took plea deals, because they didn't have the resources or the desire to fight the case. Peters fought the law, and lost, because the entire system was determined to railroad him. Any reasonable person who takes the time to look at the actual facts of this case (and not the government and media hysteria) would come to the same conclusion.

Kgirldelights was a separate thing. The prosecution attempted to lump them all together into one ominous sounding criminal organization, when that was NEVER the case. Some members overlapped, but it was not an organized crime ring, nor was Peters charged with any of that in court. He was charged with writing reviews, aka, "promoting prostitution. " All eleven felonies were for writing reviews. Nothing else. Look it up.

There is nothing at all the same about the site the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen in Bellevue started and this one. The guy who owned it was in the US, the servers were in the US and he insisted on meeting people before they became members. Those guys used to meet at restaurants around Bellevue and compare stories and didn't care who heard them. Eventually the cops sent somebody around who joined the group and took it apart from the inside.

Our servers are in Malaysia, NONE of us are in the US, not a one of us. The URL is registered in a country that doesn't respond to subpoenas, (see the .nl at the end of the address) and we are not US owned. None of you are known to us, I couldn't authenticate a user if they tried to make us. We don't have your name, no credit card info, no addresses no IP addresses, nothing. We are as anonymous as a site can possibly be. About the only way you could be tied to this site would be if you got caught like DPR did with the site open on your phone or laptop.

This pops up every couple years and some assholes like to tell horror stories.
