I am surprised that a smaller supposedly Independent newspaper would continue to perpetuate the myth that these women are here against their will and forced to perform activities they do not wish to do. It's as if they're sensationalizing just to increase their circulation.

I think its very hard for public and certain people to accept that women from China or elsewhere in the world is willing to venture into this business to make money and support families at home. I think some privilege and more well off people do not think this is a thing? There is no way those girl is here by will, there is no way they have elderly parents or small children and mortgage they have to pay at home, there is no way they couldn't find a good job and have to resort to selling themselves and is willing to come to USA few years to make ends meet. And when they want to convert their hard earned US dollar to their native currency, its now called money laundering.

Its always much easier to brand this as sex trafficking and smuggling and money laundering! Rather than demoralizing women in general or sad reality of the world we live in?

One will be surprise that many more women wants to come here whether through self smuggling through various international route or travel visa via airplane to make $$$ here in the state. Lots of this so called business are owned and operated by working girls themselves. Not some mafia or gang or big international smuggling corporation, just average people making ends meet. Of course, i'm not denying some are operated by those mentioned above.

But we all know media will think all women working in AMP as *Victims* of sex trafficking.

Of course, law is law but i wish media would portrayed other side of story more and I think we should spent more time fighting violent crime if anything

Illicit massage parlors are bad for Stephanie's business. Stephanie explains that men at lingerie parlors can purchase a show from one of the workers for between $140 and $200. Around half of the show's money goes to the woman working and the remainder is the house fee.

From there the price can go up depending on what the customer wants.

"So $160, that usually is like a sexy striptease type of a show, right?" Stephanie says. "And then from there, they can upgrade their show. We offer a variety of shows—couch dances, fetishes, fantasy shows, role-playing and domination shows, visual masturbation shows, and toy shows. ".

Compared to an illicit massage, which Stephanie says is usually around $40 to $50 for an hour plus maybe another $40 or so for a "happy ending," the lingerie shows are expensive.

"Why would they pay $400 or $500 for a toy show when they could just pay 80 bucks or 100 bucks for a body rub and get jacked off?" Stephanie says. "It ruins the customer. Now they're never going to want to pay that higher price again. ".
