I agree that the comms can sometimes be very challenging (as I understand it, she's also got a civilian life going on), but it's very much worth your time if you can connect with her. Great question. Like it or not we live in world where data can quickly become currency. Subsequently, everyone who can collect that data sells whatever data they have about you. So, for example, if you paid for your burner with a personal credit card, whoever you purchased it from might sell that information. While not specific to "so and so purchased a burner", more like this credit card or person purchased these things. Your credit card company or the parent company of the store you made the purchase at most likely will remove your personally identifiable information when they sell it. But you might slip up and give your real email address when signing into Google Voice or whatever Seeking and then they might sell the data. Aggregate enough information about enough transactions or bits of information and you have good profile.

I use a program called One Rep (https://onerep.com/ it's 100 a year) (there might be others) to remove my personal information from all those data brokers websites like Spokeo and Truecaller or People Finder, etc. And I include my burner phone number too, just in case.
