Getting into it with a scammer is going to waste your time more than theirs, and if they're at all savvy, they can take your burner number and put you on text lists, forcing you to change your number. That's not a hard thing to do with most burners, but if you get your phone blown up that can contribute to other potential life issues, if you're careless with muting it or turning it off.

No matter what you think, you're not going to teach the scammer a lesson and you're not going to deter them from doing it to the next guy. At most, you're a mild annoyance that will be immediately forgotten the moment the next sucker bites on their deposit scam.
