Bust of multi-state Venezuelan trafficking operation

The initial arrests were made in Baton Rouge but the operation, allegedly run by a gang called "Tren de Aragua," also has locations in Texas, Florida, New Jersey, and Virginia. For some reason the story doesn't list NJ, but it's clearly seen on the map in the video (timestamp: 1 min 55 sec).
The operation doesn't sound as sophisticated as the Korean agencies that were recently busted but, as is the case with any federal "trafficking" investigation, it certainly has the potential to expand.
FWIW, absolutely no mention about going after the dreaded "buyers of sex," although that's no guarantee it won't happen. As always, think with the big head and always protect your personal info. Whether with Venezolanas, or other providers, complacency is what can cause the proverbial sh*t to hit the fan!
As info: The original arrest involved a guy named Machado, but it's expanded to include at least one additional man (Zambrano-Chirinos) and woman (Chourio-Diaz). I haven't been able to find a publicly available press release or complaint (I searched USAO, HSI, and local Baton Rouge LE), but I did find this paywalled link with case header info. I also found a court scheduling note that Machado will have his initial appearance on May 30th.

P.S. From the info in the media report, it certainly appears that at least some of the women may truly have been trafficked. That's IF, and ONLY IF the reports are true about inducing fear by threatening harm to the families, etc. If those reports are true, then I hope they throw the thugs responsible in jail and lose the key.

Still, this will make me think twice before engaging in risky activities with another provider, even though I tested negative a year or so ago after bare encounters with some of the Springfield ACS crew. It looks like Atlantic Beach is only about a mile from the sting location. While it would seem he would know about the monger climate that close, the Atlantic Beach police may be equivalent to a small campus-like force. In other words, not Atlantic City, NJ.

Another suggestion: Never see a brand new provider.
If you think about it, LEO stings basically work by throwing up a new ad as bait and then reeling in all the fish that bite. Setting up a motel sting requires a bit of extra logistics because more manpower is needed to ensure officer safety, transport arrestees, and deal with other possible issues like someone who has an outstanding warrant or is in possession of drugs. It's not a hugely heavy lift, but it's enough that there's a built-in incentive to make it a one-off operation (that can be rolled out when needed) rather than an ongoing thing. Also, because they nearly always bag a significant number of fish, there's really no reason to change the model.
That means you're more at risk seeing a provider who has little or no ad history, and no reviews (from credible sources). For a Listcrawler ad, scrolling down and clicking on "More Pics" takes you to a page where you can see any previous ads on that site. If all you see is a day or two of ads, that's a red flag. If it's another ad site, try a web search for the phone number, or an image search for the pics. And, of course, check the local forums for info.
It's true that areas that are relatively "dry" will have more mongers willing to jump at the bait, but doing so is a high-risk proposition. It's also true that many mongers think that they're sting-savvy enough to stay out of trouble. What they need to realize is that the threshold for getting arrested in a sting is rather low. If you simply show up at the door, LEO can use that fact + the fact that you responded to an ad (clearly advertising sexual services) to support the arrest. Even if you were careful not to be explicit on the phone or in text messages, and even if you don't say anything incriminating in person, they're likely to cop (pun intended) a "tell it to the judge" attitude and slap the cuffs on. Some might think they could claim the arrest was unlawful, but that's a hard case to make and you'll have to hire a lawyer and go to court, no matter what. And, of course, everything will be excruciatingly public!
The only safe and sensible practice is to think with the big head and never take the bait. And also important to remember that, once you've bitten down on the hook, you're unlikely to be able to shake it out.

Trying to figure what to do different then these guys.
I guess never talk $ over the phone or text. If $ not in the ad then it's hard to know.
I guess always do a le check (grope) at the door before you pay. I'm usually to gentle to do it unless the girl initiates it first. That might be a costly mistake.
Myrtle Beach used to be wide open, escorts, AMPs, street walkers and a lot of happy golfers. It's now basically dry. I'm sure that's why these guys jumped at the chance.

Unfortunately, this inter-agency kerfuffle will not have any effect on LE priorities. Efforts to stamp out "trafficking" will continue because they are fueled by the twin drivers of community sentiment (which = votes for politicians) and money (as in federal and state grants). One, or both, of those will have to change in order for there to be a material effect on the policing of consensual adult behavior.
