The attached documents spam typically include malware inside the files that, depending on the version of your app installed (e. G, Excel, Word, etc) may automatically run the malware. More recent versions ask you before executing the code / script or even straight up block them. But yeah, definitely do _NOT_ open any attached documents in spam emails.

There is zero chance of stopping it. If you're using Gmail or some online free email account, mark them as Spam and hope for the best. Else, tough shit. Always use a burner phone and email address!
