Have seen discount codes posted here recently, but I haven't signed up in a while. I have two profiles on SA, and was going to sign up on Profile A, but it wants to charge full rate. For Profile B, it's offering me a 20% discount, but there's no code, it's just a popup that says "click here to re-subscribe". Anybody else seeing this? Am I missing something?

I agree. You did the right thing pulling the plug. They figure it's almost impossible to get guys to send them $300 in one shot in exchange for nothing, but if they can get $10 at a time, they can string a guy along enough to eventually get a sizable amount anyway. Sunk cost psychology is a real thing.

It sounds like there's a part of you still wondering if you should have sent what she requested, but the request is nonsensical. Had you sent the money, she would have either ghosted you or had some emergency happen to keep the scam going a bit longer.

My take is this person wasn't anywhere near your place and possibly not even in the country. It sounds like a complete scam to me, someone getting smaller amounts because they're less suspicious and working up in price until you finally realize it's bullshit. Good job on not throwing good money after bad on these pieces of garbage!

If I'm understanding right, she was already in the Uber to you when she asked for money? And she was at your destination and still asking for money before she came in?

What do you make of that? Did you confirm that the Uber indeed picked up and dropped off somebody? Did you see who it was? Did this person just wander around after you said no and eventually made their way back on their own?

Such a bizarre high effort way to try to scam somebody out of $30.

Edit: oh wait, it looks like you didn't send her an Uber, you sent her money for an Uber, so you probably had no way to confirm she ever even ordered one.

Sharing in advance as just got back from a week out of town but had a great situation before I left. Waiting to see if she follows through on 2nd date. Quick message on SA, switch to text, has different city listed so was planning on making the hour drive. Then says she's actually much closer, doesn't want anyone around that area seeing her profile. Agree to meet at the casino by ORD, meet at bar, pics match, former dancer & tatted up. Talk & drink for an hour, both seem interested, walk her to her car and get to specifics.
