I'm pretty sure we do not have those types of hotels here. I've been here my whole life and never heard of them. However, I'm pretty sure you can pay however you want and just leave the key in the room. After checkout time, they just assume you are gone and come in. I never "checkout" at hotels anymore. I always just leave the key behind and head home.

In my hometown, there were some cheaper motels that would let you book a "short stay" of 3 hours, just perfect for a get together. I have not found any in Raleigh. Do they exist?

If I go for a cheapie like Days Inn or Red Roof, they seem to be about $80 for an overnight. Can I pay cash at the desk and just leave the key in the room when I leave? How about booking online with a pre loaded card and check in / check out with an app?

Any pointers from the old pros out here?
