I highly doubt I would fight the guy over 100, but another good lesson from your story is not to park in front of the building or in a part of the lot where you could be seen or blocked. I always try to park around the corner when I drive. The L or CTA busses can be a pain because they take a long time and showering before leaving becomes kind of moot if the day is hot or the mass transport is cooking, but one nice thing about mass transport is that a car can't be targeted or impounded.

You did the right thing. Even if I carried I would have zero interest in starting a shootout over $100. There are no winners when that happens. Fighting for your life is one thing, but if it's only $100, you'll make it back.
