Posts: 50You are absolutely correct. Many folks would be caught up in the moment and not have the insight to take a 'big picture' look at the situation.

I too carry. World just too crazy not too nowadays. With that said in this hobby I haven't had to 99% of the time, but I have experienced that 1% and it got me out of some very crazy situations. I can tell that story another time.

Posts: 10How do you even carry and not have the girl see it and get spooked? Sorry for my ignorance. I am new to the hobby and appreciate any safety tips. I am getting my CCL soon but feels like carrying would cause more problems than solve.

I highly doubt I would fight the guy over 100, but another good lesson from your story is not to park in front of the building or in a part of the lot where you could be seen or blocked. I always try to park around the corner when I drive. The L or CTA busses can be a pain because they take a long time and showering before leaving becomes kind of moot if the day is hot or the mass transport is cooking, but one nice thing about mass transport is that a car can't be targeted or impounded.

Posts: 1445You did the right thing. Even if I carried I would have zero interest in starting a shootout over $100. There are no winners when that happens. Fighting for your life is one thing, but if it's only $100, you'll make it back.

Posts: 24It was like 11 pm on a Monday. He was yelling. There were other people in the lot. It was obvious he didn't know what my vehicle looked like so I didn't move towards it. When I left the 1st encounter there was an officer sitting in the lot across the street. I didn't want that type of attention. Nor did I know the area. I didn't want to start walking down the street being stalked and yelled at. He probably wouldn't of screwed with me if I had more of a stature. But I don't. It worked. Nothing further happened. $100 is literally nothing in this hobby. Maybe it gave him the balls to start shaking down others. But he's (yes, and me) an idiot that will eventually get caught, if he hasn't already. Yes, I realize how dumb I was. I'm still a newb looking for that sweet spot of attractiveness, service and cost that allows me to frequent as much as possible. I fell into the fallacy of sunk costs. What do you want me to say? I ain't going to jeopardize my livelihood because of some clown. And carrying a gun would absolutely not make that situation better.

Posts: 1255While I agree intelligence is best. Being passive or just giving up the money out of fear doesn't always help. Protecting yourself is paramount because if they decide to do worse you can be on the news as well. This is one reason some providers say no AA. Gangbanging pimps can careless if you comply. Carjacking has become an issue. He did make if light with just 100 but that should serve as a warning not as a normal occurrence.

Posts: 1564So go to prison for shooting a pimp, your photo all over the news and get divorced vs throwing some cash and getting out of there. I know which one I'm picking.

It's your call, but you said she has a habit, and now you know she has a crazy junkie boyfriend that's not afraid to rob you. A crazy boyfriend that she gladly let in the room to harass and rob you. Sure, they may actually be having relationship issues from time to time, but that makes meeting even more unpredictable and dangerous. If you do decide to risk meeting her again, make it on your terms. Get your own room maybe. Best thing to do would be to move on for now. Not worth it.

Posts: 24Trust me. I agree with you. That's why I posted. But don't blame me for putting thought into ways to be with her without him around.

Posts: 24Sure, it's possible. At the risk of sounding like an apologist, it didn't happen during the fist encounter. Also she has multiple decent to great reviews on TER. Reviewers who have a review history. And she was visibly distraught when he stormed out during the 2nd. Real tears. If they were working me then the donation probably wouldn't have been left on the table where I put it immediately upon entering. He left without taking it. I sat there and told her if she's going to keep it then I'm not leaving until 60 minutes is up. She sharply said something like "don't make it any more awkward than it already is fine take it". So I did. If this is a scheme they're running, then they're terrible at it.
