You're overthinking it. 99% of the time it's hispanic or asian very high volume crapshoots. They are good for a quick fix most of the time, and don't play games with phony "screening" or making you wait in the parking lot. The hotels are usually either in on it, or turn a blind eye (e. G. Google Voice has worked for me. Use a burner email when setting up for the first time. I think they now require a real phone # to link to, so if you're trying to go completely anonymous you'll need to buy a burner SIM card (only need it once). But if it's just for the hobby, that's unnecessary.
