Believe me I learned my lesson the hard way when I started out. I've learned a lot from this site and from seasoned senior members over the years. Not an overreaction, you made the right call for safety.

That said, I've known women to give the wrong door initially, usually one down the way or across from their actual room, so they can bail at the last minute if they need to.

But if they do that, they're also going to take care to make sure its actually empty.

That's a great idea to stake out the room when possible. I usually look for any possible signs of LEO then when I go in the room I check the bathroom for anyone hiding.
