You seem to have more experience w / this than you post. I always defer allowance discussions as long as possible and make the girl go first. They will always have a lower ask. No one wants to be rejected to their face. I agree, negotiating isn't easy, you have to be close to the same page. At a recent M&G, the girl told me she was getting 3 K / mo from a stupid lawyer in LA. Even though their arrangement failed because his wife caught on, and I am a very different proposition in terms of knowledge and safety (=reliable as a SD), I couldn't imagine her ever being satisfied w / what I could provide financially.
