I couldn't agree more. Why Chance having your real identity compromised? Most of us have too much at stake. I use a TextNow number and have for over 3 years. I've only had one provider deny me service because I used an internet number. For me, I'd rather miss one than face the negative alternative.

I know a lady in albuquerque that had her phone stolen by a customer. He promptly used the numbers and texts to try blackmailing the other guys.

Why should she take someone who tries to protect his identity by hiding behind a Google number? It's really not asking for much to share your real phone number. There are so many scammers to wade through, this is a tough ask. I have done this during quarantine, but only with providers I already had in-real-life experiences with prior and it was an accommodation, not part of their regular routine.
