This report came across my desk. I had to view it with a certain amount of skepticism. Kind of like closing the barn doors after the horses left.

I'm sure there was a bunch of good 'ol boys high-fiving and shoulder-slapping, and fist bumping. I'm looking at the numbers here, and they seem quite minuscule in comparison to the "real issue". Not even the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

From what I've seen this exercise in muscle flexing is for show only during a time when votes are the ultimate goal and not making the neighborhood a safe place to be in.

My opinion of those who sell or deal drugs are thugs and all those that make it possible are thugs. That includes those in city government and law enforcement who have way to long looked the other way. Why would they offer some thugs a diversionary program? These people already think they are above the law to engage in the activity they engage in. Do they think by offering a diversionary program they will have an epiphany and come to their senses? It's doubtful considering the vast economic differences.

This is another clear example of the delusional atmosphere this city government lives in. The reality is the zombies still walk and the drugs are being sold a block away. The guns are still a threat to all who dare venture into that area. The bodies still pile high on the spot where they fall. The trash and filth haven't changed at all. The addicts still piss and shit wherever they happen to be when the urge strikes. Then they head to Quick Stop and grab an ice cream.

This news article would have us believe progress was made. We are not the fools they wish we were. So don't piss in my face and try to tell me it's raining. I know the difference. Me, I'm just an 'OL Gator.

It's sad to see such horrible crimes that keep happening. On Torresdale Ave there are a few strolls still active and a few days ago a well known gas station attendant was shot dead during a 4 AM robbery.

Being a long time mongering of K Avenue, its tough to say whether things have gotten worse, they have always been bad and I don't know how to tell if its gotten worse.

But common sense does prevail, I make sure I have enough gas to get in and out and back up a couple of years, I thought nothing of patronizing a city gas station. I tend to limit my SW shopping under the logic that if I don't see something promising on the first lap or two, no sense risking it any further. We can thank our esteemed DA, Larry Karsner for not prosecuting our SWs but the flip side is the war zone that K Avenue is becoming. Stay safe everyone, there isn't a single SW that I have ever met that is worth taking on excess risk, no matter how you define the term.

Saw this the other day, apparently the motorist that was struck fatally was a doctor at Temple university on his way to work. Got hit by a truck that went completely through a red light at high speed. This is so common in Philadelphia it's not even funny, especially at night. Basically any major intersecting corridors like Kensington and Lehigh, for example, you have to be extremely vigilant of opposing traffic.

Drove thru today and traffic was a mess as they were closing off sections they were working on. Funny how you see the news media there like the city is really doing something. They should have never allowed the area to become a campground and open drug use zone. It was becoming a toxic wasteland. Let's see how long it will last.
