I know this topic has been addressed before but I think it's worth a revisit. I love the Korean agencies but the screening standards are completely unreasonable. I refuse to submit selfies, identification, employer information and god know what else so "maybe" an unknown person will approve me. I will not risk identity theft, fraud, or god knows what other criminal activity by carelessly tossing this information out there. That's just me.

But yet, this screening has become the industry standard now because enough of you mongers happily go along with it. These same people who carefully guard their own details on this site will submit all kinds of valuable details to total strangers. I ask you, under what other circumstances would you blindly submit your PII to a complete stranger? And ask yourself, would the agency submit the same personal details about themselves? The answer is no, which should tell you all you need to know right there.

As I mentioned before, however, I do love the Korean agencies. And I've found a few hacks around this otherwise unacceptable screening standard. Willing to share some intel with trusted members if anyone wants to PM me.

I get it. There are still plenty of other options out there. But you guys who go along with the compromising approval requirements (yeah sure I'll tell you my name, address, DOB, employer, and give you my picture) are only creating an unacceptably risky standard that will eventually lead to major problems. And it leads to the rest of us having to meet those thresholds, unnecessarily. What's next. Down payments becoming the norm? Enough is enough. I wish we could stand stronger and prevent this kind of infringement on our privacy and security. Isn't that what this forum is about. Protecting our security?

But yet, enough mongers out there will submit to this requirement. And eventually it may become the industry standard like PII has become.

Just something to think about.

Sadly, I don't see this changing at this point. The Korean agencies know they are losing some business with their unreasonable requirements for your personal details, but they've offset those losses by raising their rates. They know there will always be enough mongers who will think with their dixx instead of their heads.

I seriously think the only thing that will change this is if there is some kind of major breach or bust that publicizes and exposes a large group. Or, if there's a widespread extortion or ransomware type exploitation with this information. The stage is set. Nothing good can come out of this much personal information being held by so many of these agencies. Eventually somebody is going to exploit it.

I'd also like to remind you guys that there are K agencies ($3 level) in NY and LA that do Not require the extensive personal information that has become the standard in NOVA. So there's proof that the business model can exist without the extra PII.

During the lockdown I was left alone due to my partner being lockeddown in another country with all flights cancelled. I tried to get screened by a few of these K agencies. One turned me down after supplying the required info (although I tried to protect my anonymity). The other required less paperwork and approved me, but when I go to see who was available they had 2, neither of were really appealing to me (just not into augmented body parts) for the $3 level of dream.
