I declined his offer and he said that they would send 'a unit' to my house to arrest me and take me 'downtown'. I asked which downtown, since I don't live in Raleigh, and he stammered and finally said Raleigh and gave me the street address for the main Raleigh PD.

You are being scammed 100%. Why in the world you respond to their calls / texts in the first place? Good lord man.

Could have been "Racquel" or maybe "Kate Lyn". But I only snapchatted with her. I suppose people can get phone numbers from Snapchat somehow. If so, she'd be the one I would suspect since she was the highest pressure and gave me a male sounding email address [Deleted by Admin] to confirm a Zelle payment (that I did not make).

BTW: I will be acquiring a 'burner' phone for further use. Any tips and hints on how to purchase and set one of those up would be appreciated.

Spoofing caller I'd is incredibly simple. Cops don't call to investigate unless they're following up after already having been in contact with you. For the first contact they just show up. They also don't tell you to go spend money to later be reimbursed. This 1000% a scam attempt.

I have not had that pleasant experience, but thank you for sharing.

To anyone else reading who doesn't already know, spoofing a caller I'd is extremely easy, all it requires is downloading an app from the app store and paying <$1 per call. I'm sure there are cheaper ways to do it, but my point is that someone's caller I'd means virtually nothing. Stay safe everyone.

I have never had any luck with a provider that has a phone number with a area code of 984. In fact most responses that I can recall have resulted in excessive spam, or some sort of scam (Like a prepay of sorts).

It stays that way. I think its an easy way for them to shut it down without too much behind it. Sad thing is Its all the same people staying at these hotels On New Bern when they get kicked out of other hotels that's how they all end up at Hotels like Quality. Most times the owners will put up with it until they can't anymore and rid the place of them. But I imagine the Owners at Quality really didn't care at all now their forced to close. So those people gone just go back to taking over another Hotel more than likely Wake Inn. Knights Inn, Micro and Raleigh Inn has at least tried to put the effort into cleaning up a little bit as you don't see many people hanging out there like they used to.
