Damn AM, sorry that happened to you but a word of advice, I never keep wallet in my pants and I roll my pants down past my pockets so they can't just reach in and I always know where their hands are. If they try to keep really close to you and they're fidgeting then you can be sure they are up to no good. I do always use my sixth sense and if I get bad vibes from someone I never picked up before I come up with an excuse to take them back to where I picked them up.
