I've gotten a couple of them over the past 2-3 years, first one was very alarming but after you realize that its bs you just kind of laugh it off. Block the number and forget about it.

That happened to me once. It was pretty scary at first. But then after a few seconds it also seemed so stupid and out of proportion that I wasnt worried. Is a cartel really going to start murdering peoples entire families because they didn't book an appointment? LOL. So dumb.

Anyhow. They also got my address and name wrong because the person doesn't really have any idea who you are. They prob tried to get the info from the number off the internet but I don't use my actual phone number so.

Towed for what? We're you parked in front of a hydrant? Sure Chicago cops are dirty but there needs to be a violation for them to hook your car. Coming out of a suspected brothel isn't not ground for towing because you refused to talk to them.

Dude, There is an ordinance on the books in Chicago that John's who get busted get their car towed. And our friend who posted their experience, even though they claimed they "know the law" incriminated themselves, admitted to paying for sex and the consequence was the car getting towed.

Yep, I inquired and received the same threatening message and call but didn't answer. Since it was from my burner / google voice number I wanted to answer but was with company at the time. In retrospect scam or no scam, probably better to not even communicate with these people.

I had messaged 3-4 numbers. I'll post the ads below but don't know which one led to this scam message. Thank you everyone else for your replies as well. After the initial panic I too just surmised its an extortion scam and just deleted the number.

I'm not worried because I, too, use a burner. But I'm not sure I'd be very worried if I didn't. It's an extortion scam. And it would be easier to get them pinched than for any real harm to come to you. Real cartel members, in my opinion, wouldn't be throwing around their name like that, nor sending out potentially incriminating evidence. The "real" cartel is like the "real" mafia -- you don't see them coming, and when they arrive, there is no question as to the deep shit you're in. This is a scam casting a wide net trying to get some quick cash from scared dudes.

I'm not an expert in any of this, nor claiming to be -- but I can spot a scam that would be easily traceable if actual violence occurred.

Very New user to this site and to mongering. I texted a couple of numbers from rub md to schedule appointment. I didn't follow through as the address they gave both numbers was the Halstead one from the raid video and I definitely didn't want to risk going there. Then I found a Latina double special number in rub md in north side and texted them but got very late replies so didn't have time to confirm appointment. I then got a threatening call and text from another number saying they are from Sinloa cartel and have all my details and will send somebody to kill me for wasting their time if I don't pay 2500 and had pictures of ten people with severed heads. Luckily I had the sense to use burner phone app. Being this new to activity I am really spooked.

Prior to this I have had one successful dream at 819 with this very small bust (A cup) girl which was very underwhelming for me.

Just wanted to see if anyone else have received such messages.

Most likely just somebody from one of the agencies trying to run a quick scam on you. But it could also be the cops trying to get you to reply, then they will try to use the fact that you replied as leverage to try to make you an informant by scaring you with the possibility that this information gets back to your family, friends or job.

I'm Mexican and I can tell you for sure that's no real cartel on the other line. Like the other guy said, they would get you unannounced. They have bigger things on their list rather than pick on mongers around here through some girls ad. An upfront threat like that would more likely come from local gangs if it were even real, which I am sure it's not.
